Honoring Newburyport Preservation

 

Members of the Custom House Maritime Museum and their guests are cordially invited to our First Friday Social on May 3rd from 6:00-8:00pm, featuring a preview of the 7th annual Newburyport Preservation Week program.

Tom KolterjahnWith the 178 year old Newburyport Custom House in the midst of an ambitious preservation project this spring and summer, and host once again to distinguished Preservation Week events, what better time to revisit Newburyport’s hallmark tradition of linking the past with the present and future.

Join us on Friday, May 3rd, as we sample Preservation Week 2013 featuring Women & Preservation.  Welcome Bethany Groff, Newburyport Preservation Trust Board Member, author and Regional Manager of Historic New England, along with Tom Kolterjahn, Newburyport Preservation Trust Co-President, Powder House Restoration Committee Co-Chair and Newburyport Historical Commission Vice-Chair, for a preview this annual celebration of the city’s preservationBethany Groff achievements.

Through this year's signature program of walking tours, intriguing lectures, events, receptions, awards and even a Mother's Day Brunch – five days packed with activities for all ages and interests – you’ll experience a renewed appreciation of the manner in which Newburyport’s preservation practices enrich our community and culture.

We encourage all our members to invite a guest to this event to introduce them to the Custom House Maritime Museum and treat them to an evening of conversation, company and maritime discovery in the heart of downtown Newburyport. 

For your refreshment, wine, beer and soft drinks will be served – along with hors d’oeuvres from the Southeast Asian port of Manila, capital of the Philippines, Sheila Mullins' next port-of-call on her sumptuous Spice Trade Culinary AdventureHarpoon Brewery - Official beer of the Custom House Maritime Museum
