Celebrating Newburyport's 250th Anniversary

Appeal To Heaven

The story of the founding of Newburyport is inextricably linked to the founding of the United States of America.   The path from British subject to American colonist to United States citizen was an intense an eventful experience -- and the caldron from which incorporation of Newburyport emerged.

Through the lives of Newbury-Port individuals and the issues of this era we examine the risk-taking and foresight, the principles and idealism, the faith and courage that molded a new town and a new country within a period of just 25 years -- to which so many truly pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor.
