250th Anniversary CelebrationThe story of the founding of Newburyport is inextricably linked to the founding of the United States of America. When incorporated in 1764, Newburyport covered an area comprising just six hundred and forty-seven acres. It was the smallest town in the province of Massachusetts Bay, with a population of just 2,800 men, women and children.

In celebration of this 250th Anniversary event, the Custom House Maritime Museum invites you to join us for an exploration of the events, personalities and issues surrounding Newburyport's first century, taken from five perspectives.
