Under sail upon the high seas, and scattered across the globe – it was a way of life in Newburyport for most of the nineteenth century. See and experience an intimate and heartfelt tableau of Christmas Day life aboard Newburyport ships at sea, in this dramatic portrayal of the thoughts and emotions of our mariner ancestors far from home – revealed through entries in their ship logs.
Meet the cast of "Voices of Christmas Past"
Kim is returning to Voices of Christmas Past this year, after missing a year while she had her son! This is her first performance since then and she couldn't be happier to help out the Custom House! She was last seen as Goldie in the Amesbury Playhouse production of Two By Two.
Brian is ecstatic to make his debut Voices of Christmas Past performance. He is currently the Music Director at the Nock Middle School here in Newburyport and teaches privately at the West Newbury School of Music. His 2013 original piano score for the Firehouse's production of The 39 Steps received an EMACT award for Outstanding Musical Accompaniment.
Elizabeth Holcomb is thrilled to join the cast of Voices of Christmas Past. Living in Exeter, NH, she is also a wife and stay-at-home mom to her three boys! Her roles include Lily St. Regis in Annie and the Grand Duchess Olga Katrina in You Can't Take It With You, both at the Leddy Center. Most recently, a castmate of Kate Gilbert's in Steel Magnolias for the Garrison Players. In this award-winning production, she portrayed Truvy Jones, a role for which she was named Best Supporting Actress at the New Hampshire Theatre Awards this year.
This is Rob's third time performing Voices of Christmas Past. He is a native of Newburyport and thrilled to have the opportunity to perform a part of our local history. He has acted in hundreds of theatrical productions throughout New England for more than twenty years. He was most recently seen appearing in Neil Simon's The Odd Couple at The Seacoast Reperatory Theater in Portsmouth N.H.
Kate is producer, director and writer of our Voices of Christmas Past production, a project she initiated during a graduate studies internship at the Custom House Maritime Museum. She is very pleased that this show has been so well received these past few years, as she loved researching these wonderful journals! Enjoy the show!
